Senior Creative Strategist
This person is being hired to take Misfit's creative to the next level.
We're staying at nine brands capped, moving to eight if anyone churns. The bet is that intensity beats scale: the deeper we go with each client, the better the work, and the quicker brands grow. This role is the commitment to that bet, not the on-ramp to a bigger agency.
You'll work directly with me on every account. I've managed $150M+ in Meta spend across 20,000+ ads. If you want to compound fast, that's the offer.
What you'd actually do
- Write briefs that turn into ads that win on Meta
- Generate a wide field of ideas and personally see them through to live, tracked ads. Execution matters as much as ideation here.
- Pull hooks from data, customer reviews, call transcripts, and competitor teardowns
- Orchestrate our roster of UGC creators, the creator network groups we're building out, and partner agencies. You'll help us figure out new ways to produce creative, not just operate inside the old ones.
- Use AI tools to compress the production loop
- Track every output. Kill losers fast. Double down on winners.
What you would NOT do
- Edit video or design statics (UGC creators and partner agencies handle that)
- Build brand decks (we're a performance shop)
- Push buttons in ad accounts (Tim and I run the buying)
- Sit on most client calls (I'll handle those; you have time to make the work)
Who I'm hoping shows up
- You think in psychology, design, AND performance. Full funnel. You understand why a hook lands before you write one.
- You've personally shipped DR ads that scaled. Not "managed a team who did it." You did it.
- Senior IC. You want to BE the creative engine, and you're comfortable directing our UGC creators and a current team of A+ designers when the work calls for it.
- Strong written and async communication. You don't have to be the loudest voice on a call. You do have to be clear and fast in Slack, briefs, and Looms with creators.
- Open to unconventional production: creator groups, partner agencies, weird experiments. You'll help build this, not resist it.
- AI native. You're using Veo, Sora, Claude, Midjourney, ElevenLabs to ship faster, and you have the taste to know slop from quality.
Who I'm NOT hiring
- The agency CD who won't touch Figma and hasn't written copy in three years
- Someone a year into DR who's still figuring out what makes performance creative work
- A brand-first designer who reaches for the brand book before the testing framework
- A pure people-manager. You'll direct creators and our designers when needed, but this isn't a head-of role with an org chart underneath you.
Day 30 success
- One live creative that we'd both call genuinely compelling
- A wide field of ideas in the pipeline, with the best already shot, edited, and shipping
- A clean scoreboard tracking what's testing, what won, and what died
Ideation without follow-through doesn't count here.
Comp + location
$120K to $150K base plus benefits, adjusted for experience and country. Open to applicants in the US and worldwide. Genius isn't constrained to a location, but your working day should overlap with Eastern Time give or take three hours.
The honest part
Clients are demanding. Work is hands-on. You have no direct reports, but you have real capacity:
- Statiq, a team of designers, for static ad production
- Pre-vetted UGC creators we've worked with for years
- The creator network groups we're building out
- The freedom to pull in great agency partners as test partners
We have no limitations on what we'll test. The goal is to spend more, not to build a walled garden. We're small on purpose and staying that way. If you want to be in the dirt of performance creative at scale, this might be the best seat in DTC.
Apply
Takes about 30 minutes. We respond within 7 days, either way.
We read every application. If we want to dig in, we'll book a 45-minute call. After that, finalists get a paid trial project ($750, 5 days). Final round is a panel with our team. We'll respond within 7 days, either way.
